Last Friday night March 20th at 7.30pm we had a presentation in the clubhouse of medals won in 2014 to all U13, U14 and U16s.We would like to thank Cork hurler Aidan Walsh for his attendance on the night and also to all the people who showed up on the night. Well done to all the players who received awards on the night also. Also to our sponsors Lees Centra for their generous sponsorship again this year and for the set of jerseys presented to the Minors. We would also like to thank Ray and Brendan for the refreshments provided on the night. Thank you for your continued support.

We had our first under 10s football blitz In sunny Mourneabbey on last saturday 21st march.

We had a great crowd of boys playing and all the boys played brilliantly.

Scott Berry, Roy Barret and Conor Barrett , Adam O'Beirne and Adam Roche

manned the goals and full back defence expertly. Christian O'Connor, Robert O'Carroll and Rees Dillon were majestic in the centre back positions.

We had a rock solid centre field with Dj Collins, Tony Fernandez, Sean Bresnan and Cathal Kent .

Then up front there was the dynamic Jack Jones, Tristram Begley, Micheál Sheehan and Kevin Shij.

Each and every one of these boys performed to the highest standard and we can look forward with confidence to our next match.

Speciall thanks to all the parents who helped out on the day with drives/water/advice etc - you know who you are.

Our next training session takes place in the hall next friday night at a later than usual time of 6;30 til 7:30.

This is our first hurling training session so don't forget hurleys and helmets. note the hurling will be the focus for a while

Charleville 0-13 Kildorrery 2-06
Charleville U21 footballers had a great win last Saturday in the quarter final of the U21 Football championship.Charleville started brightly and some excellent points from Ciaran Carey, James O Brien and Darren Casey gave us a 3 point lead. This was followed by a Kildorrery goal and in an end to end match further scores from James O Brien, Jack Barry and Darren Butler were relied to with a further 1-04 from Kildorrery to leave us trailing at half time by 2-04 to 0-06.
Charleville started the second half strongly and were getting on top in all areas now and slowly whittled down the lead with scores from Gavin Kelleher(3), Darren Casey, Ciaran Carey and Jack Barry to put us ahead. An equaliser for Kilworth followed but entering the dying seconds Darren Butler popped over a great point to earn us the victory. The boys showed great heart here to come back and all players put in a great show with special mention to Jack Doyle in defence and our super midfield duo of Gavin Kelleher and Alan Dennehy to name a few. Great credit due to trainers Brian Barrett, Steve O Sullivan and Dwayne Collins for having the boys spot on for the match and we now look forward to the semi final against Mitchelstown.

Charleville 1-19 Kilworth 3-13
Charleville and Kilworth contested the semi final of the Coughlan Cup(Intrermeditae Hurling) last Thursday night and it ended in a stalemate after a late Adrian Mannix goal for Kilworth. In an excellent contest both sides went at it from the off and some fine scores for Charleville from Andrew Cagney, Darren Casey and James O Brien had the sides tied at 6 points each midway through the first half. Kilworth followed with 2 good points before Charleville started to take control of matters with Danny O Flynn and Jack Barry lording it in the centre of the field, Alan Dennehy and Gavin Kelleher excellent in the back line with Andrew Cagney, Darren Casey and James O Brien creating havoc up front.2 quick scores from Cagney made it 8 points a piece before a late scoring spree from Danny O Flynn, Mark Kavanagh and James O Brien gave Charleville a 3 point lead at half time. By the 40th minute Charleville had opened a 3 point llead and Adrian Mannix buried a 21 yard free to close the gap to 3 and all of a sudden they had the gap closed to a point at 0-7 to 1-13. Charleville dug in again though and a fine point by Danny O Flynn well set up by Darren Casey and a fine pass from Derry Murphy for Mark Kavanagh to bury to the net gave us a 5 point lead. Mannix scored his second goal to narrow the gap to 2 in the 57th minute but this was followed by an Andrew Cagney pointed free as we approached the final whistle. To say a goal is a dangerous lead is an understatement as Mannix got his 3rd goal of the game on the stroke of full time in a cracking game. Both sides have to go at it again next Sunday inn Charleville in what should be another enthralling encounter
